Hair Transplant FAQ’s with Dr Mark Tam – Part 1

So here are some of the most common questions
as asked by some of my patients during consultations. Number 1 is “Do I need to shave doctor?” as
you can see there is a little donor hair shave that I have got here, so yes we need to shave
your donor area in the back and the sides and also in the treatment area – if we were
to be treating a temple then we might have to shave a little area around where we are
treating. “Immediately afterwards, it is going to look red?” Yes the area we work on is going
to look red the first couple of days, it doesn’t stop you from working, you can go back to
work but it will still look a little bit red and if you are conscious of this, then maybe
it is a good idea to take a bit of time off work, or to style your hair in a particular
way to hide that area and the redness usually will remain there for the first 7, maybe up
to a 14 days. Some patients may still look a bit pink after 14 days too.
